Small Business Social Media On a Time Crunch

Shain Toth

Today's small business owners are on a time crunch. Things have changed since the days where you could sit at your desk and answer emails all day long. Today, you have to think about marketing your brand, responding to customer inquiries, and juggling many other responsibilities. But one thing that hasn't changed? The importance of social media marketing for businesses. In fact, it's more important than ever! If you're finding yourself feeling overwhelmed by all the things on your plate as a small business owner, then this post is going to be just what you need. We'll tell you how to maximize your time so that you can get through everything in one piece (or at least feel like it).

It can be difficult to keep up with your work, let alone social media posts.

When you’re running a business, it can be difficult to keep up with your work, let alone social media posts. Between juggling clients and projects, keeping tabs on sales and expenses, and taking care of general administrative tasks like ordering supplies or creating contracts—it can feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything you need to do.

And then there are those pesky social media accounts that need attention. If you’re not constantly updating them (and they don’t update themselves), they get boring quickly. And since no one likes boring posts on their newsfeeds, this means fewer views for your company—which means less engagement from customers—which means less visibility for your brand! It's a vicious cycle that only gets worse as time goes by if you don't have someone dedicated to managing those accounts full-time.

Block out time in your schedule to post on social media.

Unfortunately, social media doesn't work on autopilot. You need to make it a priority and block out time in your schedule to post.

Here are some examples of how you can do that:

Don't just post random content, share content that you know will be valuable to your followers.

What do you think of when you hear the phrase "business social media"? In my experience, it's often synonymous with corporate jargon and bad puns. However, business social media can be utilized to build relationships with customers and promote your company as a whole—not just by sharing your products but also by sharing other relevant information that may be valuable to your followers. For example, if I'm a car mechanic based in Boston who has over 2K followers on Twitter, why wouldn't I tweet about Boston's traffic situation during rush hour?

That way my followers know that I care about them and their lives (even though they're probably stuck in traffic). Or if I'm an e-commerce shop owner selling swimsuits online during summertime, then perhaps it makes sense for me to tweet about how sunscreen is important for everyone this time of year—especially since most of us have been burned at some point in our lives!

Whatever content you choose to share needs value behind it or else there's no use posting anything at all because all those tweets will go unnoticed anyways!

Find a tool that can help you automate posts.

Automation tools have become extremely popular in recent years, as more and more people are looking for ways to save time. There are a variety of different automation tools on the market, but not all of them are created equal. To find the best one for you, it’s best to do some research into your options before making a decision.

The ones I recommend include Hootsuite, Buffer and Sprout Social (which is also my personal favorite). Each one offers slightly different features depending on how much control you want over your posts or what kind of analytics data you need access too.

Before you run out of time, find a way to maximize your efficiency.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to socializing. There are plenty of tools and techniques that will help you save time while keeping your brand consistent across all platforms.

  • Use a scheduling tool: Schedule your posts ahead of time, and you'll be able to spend more time on activities that are actually fun for you or your business.

  • Find influencers: Identify potential ambassadors (people who will promote your product) by connecting with them directly via DM (direct message) on Twitter, following them on Instagram, liking their Facebook posts and leaving comments as well as checking out their e-courses/websites/apps etc...

You can also use BuzzSumo’s influencer finder tool in order find influencers for specific searches like “small business” or “marketing” but remember not everyone is worth following!

  • Monitor public sentiment: Use Google Alerts so that you know when a customer has posted something negative about your company online

Social media for businesses is a must in today’s fast paced, on demand, mobile friendly world.

Social media is a must in today’s fast paced, on demand, mobile-friendly world. Businesses big and small are utilizing social media as a way to reach out to their customers, build relationships with them, keep them updated on their products/services and get feedback on what they need or want.

It’s important for you as the owner of your business or someone who helps run it to understand why social media is so important and what you need to do when creating content for it.

The key to successful social media is to find a balance between posting high-value content, and staying on top of your work. It’s not easy to do both, but when you do it right, you can reach more people in the world than ever before.

No matter what tools or methods you select to help you, the important part is that in order to grow your business, you'll have to actually use them...
